Defining the model limits

Defining the model limits

Before a new project can be created, the boundary of the FE model must be roughly determined. To do this, the model boundaries must first be defined. In this example, there is a watershed in the western and southern parts of the study area, i.e. a Q=0 boundary can be defined here as the boundary of the model. However, be careful. Watershed boundaries does not necessarily equate boundaries for groundwater flow, particularly with deep groundwater systems! The main watercourse in the north and east is taken as a further model boundary.

In the following chapters, the study area is modelled step by step into a groundwater modell.
