By selecting a colour index, a new or different colour can be assigned to this index after activating the colour button. Activating the colour button leads to the following selection window:

It is also possible to specify the index of the colour palette and the numbers of the associated colours manually in the initialisation file spring.opt using the variable XSUSIPalette. Example:

When SPRING is installed, the file spring.opt is automatically included, which contains the colour palettes 0 to 9. A total of up to 15 colour palettes can be defined by editing or adding to the file.
After selecting a palette, the individual colours of the palettes can be defined according to the possible number. Alternatively, palettes can be created using the file selection window. Palettes in Goldensoftware Surfer format (*.clr) can be imported here. These consist of any number of colour intervals and are interpolated to the SPRING intervals of the respective palette during import, i.e. colour gradients of 10 or 30 colours each are created.
Attention: As the "OK" button saves the settings permanently, if a different colour palette is selected, this is also saved in the SPRING colour palette. Therefore, the "Cancel" button should always be selected for a temporary colour selection. Otherwise, it is necessary to reload the default colour palette and then also save it with "OK.

In SPRING version 6.1.38, the interpolation of the colour palette has been adapted for a two-dimensional attribute display. The entire selected colour palette is now used regardless of the number of intervals in the display area. As a result, the minimum value of the interval is always assigned the left-hand colour and the maximum value the right-hand colour of the respective palette.
