Call via selection in the menu of File Export Shapefile: Node data…/Element data

Many programmes such as geoinformation systems have an interface for the Shapefile format.

A decision is made in advance as to which data (node-related or element-related) is to be exported. The input window is identical for both types, apart from the data types offered.

A Shapefile package is made up of two components in 3 files: the geometry information (*.shx and *.shp files) and the attributes in the database file (*.dbf, dBase format). As the attribute names of some programmes are limited to 11 characters, SPRING also generates an *.alias file in ASCII format, which contains the exact names of the data records and, if applicable, information about the layer numbers and/or the time steps.
