The energy transport equation is supplemented by boundary conditions:
Boundary condition 1st type: Specification of fixed temperatures (attribute 1KON):
T = T*
Boundary condition 2nd type: Specification of a diffusive-dispersive heat flow on the edge. However, the almost exclusive practical application is to make the boundary impermeable to diffusion-dispersion, so that the following applies:
(N denotes the outward-pointing normal to the model edge).
The system of equations can only be solved if a boundary condition of the first kind is defined at a minimum of at least one node.
For the transient energy transport equation, the initial conditions for the start time must be specified for the entire model domain.
Initial condition: Initial temperature for the start time t0 of the transient calculation (attribute AKON):
T(t0) = T*0
