For changing the horizontal permeability K, the expected and current gradients are considered. The new value is then computed by:
kn+1 = (I / Is) * kn
with:
k = permeability of the elements
I = gradient of the model calculation
Is = gradient of the nominal state
n = iteration step

The permeability K is only changed for elements where the angle between the expected and the current gradient is less than or equal to 60 degrees.

Elements with an anisotropic permeability K (using ZONE and MATE) are not subject of the calibration!

The permeability K assigned by the calibration can be limited to a desired range of values (KMIN / KMAX).
