Export Streamlines
After the steady state flow calculation of a 2D horizontal model streamlines can be computed. The resulting streamlines can be different, depending on the program module used (GEONEU or SITRA). Firstly, the streamline calculation is highly sensitive with respect to the numerics. Even very small changes in potential heads or velocities cause large differences in the mass flow rates. Secondly, the different FE calculation affects the results (see chapter: Steady state flow).
GEONEU divides each element into triangles. This type of discretization, in contrast to that used by the linear or bilinear finite element shape functions in SITRA, calculates an additional value at the element centre.
