The input data for a groundwater model can be found in the input file (*.net), which contains all the information for a 2D model. For three-dimensional models, this file contains the data for the uppermost layer. All data for the subsequent layers below is included in the supplementary file (*.3d).

The input files are usually created or modified interactively in the SPRING interface. As these are ASCII files, they can also be edited with any text editor.

Additional files can modify model data without changing the primary data of the *.net (or *.3d) file.
