The calculation of the direct runoff by Meßer is based on the slope classes, soil types, the land use and the classes of the distance between the ground – and the groundwater level.

The calculation is based on dbase files which are stored during the installation of SPRING in the directory "C: \ Users \ Public \ Documents \ SPRING \ Konfig" (on Windows 7). This path varies depending on the operating system or the hard drive partitioning (e.g. under Windows XP: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\SPRING\Konfig")
